'March'ing On
Trying not to miss an opportunity to party, our son Ben organized a family poker night ('Texas hold 'em - pictured below) last Friday night. In truth, none of us can 'hold' a decent 'poker face' - but it was great fun watching everyone try!
The sun has been a welcome change and we've enjoyed soaking up some vitamin D outside and watching the grand kids play on the swing set. Though the grass is brown and still a bit moist, we know that somewhere down there, spring is beginning to sprout and will soon show it's happy face.
Jim has been treated to some great company and a little pampering to boot lately! Our friend and neighbor Georgia Sorensen Anderson spent an hour massaging Jim's feel and neck last week, our daughter in law gave him a 'real boy' haircut and sister Mern gave him a manicure! Paul and Shell brought dinner so Joanne could attend the Relief Society birthday dinner, adding to the wonderful meals our cute girls bring in each week. The Relief Society came for a birthday visit for me, bringing with them soup then later lunch left-overs from a funeral held for our dear friend and neighbor, John Ward. Jim was John and Margo's home teacher for years and has developed a great affection and admiration for both of them. We will sorely miss John, a staple of the Union 1st ward. He had a brilliant mind and a jovial heart! Heaven must be in need of valiant men!
Jim has had a more difficult time swallowing food and liquid as of late, but still, with effort can eat and drink most things. This is the progression of the disease that we've dreaded...the point at which a decision as to whether to hang in with the air pressurization machine or opt for a tracheotomy. So far, Jim hasn't made a decision, except to say he does not want to have to do a trach. Lately our prayers are focused on feeling PEACE! Peace of mind to have clarity of thought in making decisions. Peace to know when enough is enough! Peace for rest and peace to know there is someone else in charge!
I am reminded lately of a favorite song,
'The Lord Bless You and Keep You'
...the Lord lift his countenance upon you
and give you PEACE!
Pray for Peace!

Praying for peace all the way from California! Love you two and so looking forward to spending some good quality time with you!
We are talking serious poker here. A felt poker table cover? Where do you even buy those? Joanne, your poker face is going to give you away!
We are praying for you and for peace that "passeth all understanding".
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
