A PASSION FOR POSTERITY!

SUMMER 2013

Family are FABULOUS, is all I can say about surviving this summer!  It's been 'hot, hot, hot' and so very lonesome and strange without Jim, but I've been very grateful to be able to spend happy days with loved ones!
Thanks to a little project Jim and I both agreed on at  Bear Lake - and the fact that summer usually 'flies by' anyway, I've survived without my wonderful husband for three months!
I've taken crying to a new level and think about and miss my amazing Jim every day!
His unforgettable laugh, his 'swagger', his
voice, his long pauses over the phone, his strong arms, amazing smile, irresistible lips, savvy wisdom, goofiness, mechanical brain (I have to read instructions now), mere presence.....EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM!!!
With that said, I have truly felt him close as I've enjoyed our children, the beauty of the season and many cherished friendships!  Thanks to all of you who have been so thoughtful of the great hole left in my life!

Since I was a young girl spending summer days at the Patterson family Bear Lake compound in Fish Haven Idaho, I've wanted a 'screened porch' (you know, the kind with the spring door that flaps shut when people go in and out)!  Jim OK'd adding one to a portion of the deck at our (now) Bear Lake property in Garden City Utah and the project has been my 'saving grace' these past months!  Now that it is done, besides the fact that I LOVE IT, I know that Jim and my Dad think it's a worthy addition too!  (I will include pictures in my next post - and more of my favorite summer place)!  For those of you who may not know, all of my siblings now have a place together at Bear Lake which makes for family hysteria but great fun all summer long.  Our grand kids love having cousins to play with and watching them leave the hot city and their 'techy' world behind (most of the time) while they 'create' their play, is pure and simple JOY!

On July 27th we will be celebrating 50 years at this beautiful Bear Lake place.  Thanks to Mom and Dad (Bob and Barbara Patterson),
their foresight and hard work at keeping it up and instilling a great love for each other and this area in each of us, we have what my Dad's family has enjoyed at Fish Haven now for over 100 years...another extended family gathering place!  Family is truly the eternal unit and I know my Dad and Jim will be looking on as we celebrate and be so proud of their posterity, as they work at building a kingdom for all of us in the eternities!  We will miss them sorely... as we always do and also be wishing that Mom could be with us.  She is getting hard to transport, is very frail and I'm afraid would be so confused with everything.  Still - she lives on with the amazing fortitude and spirit that all who have known her would expect.  She is truly the grand dame of Bear Lake!
So despite my tender aching heart, I feel deep and abiding gratitude for my blessings and for posterity past, present and future!
